Road Trip

For the past few weeks I have taken a break from shooting. I took a road trip with my girlfriend down to the states for two weeks, and visited San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, the Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas.

Keep an eye out for updates on new videos. Crankworx is coming up soon and lots of the overseas riders will be back in town to film with as well.

In the meantime, enjoy a few photos from the U.S.A.

Race Training: Ian Morrison & Tyler Allison

Finally, it's here! It took only one huge day to film this video. However I have been on the road for the past week so it's taken a bit of time to get everything edited and finished off. So without further adieu, I present Ian Morrison and Tyler Allison at their best:

Behind the Scenes: Ian and Tyler Shoot

Wednesday, June 30th - 6:30 am. POW Gloves teammates Ian Morrison and Tyler Allison, Team Manager Chad Hendren, and myself met in day lot four. I was leaving for a trip on Friday for two weeks, which meant we only had one day to shoot this video. The folks at Whistler/Blackcomb were kind enough to give us drive-up access to the hill so we could get up before the general public to shoot. By 6:50 we had driven all our equipment up the hill, and had started to set up for our first major shot: the cable cam. Bob Allison, owner of the Core Gym and Climbing Wall, and also Tyler’s dad, was generous enough to bring up some extra equipment and help out immensely with our cable cam set up.

I have known Ian since he was thirteen when we worked together at the Whistler Golf Course. He’s always been a good rider, but in the past year he has developed one of the most unique styles on a mountain bike, which is extremely fun to watch. Not to mention he can scrub like no one else.

This year I have shot with a lot of Whistler’s young riders - Ian at nineteen, Nick Geddes at seventeen, and now Tyler Allison at eighteen. I had never actually seen Tyler ride until we starting shooting this video, but I knew he was fast from his killer race results. Tyler was very impressive to watch for the first time, and was able to keep real tight with Ian the entire time while shooting, sometimes getting almost too close!

In total we had a thirteen-hour day, from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm when we finally wrapped it up. It was tough to cram everything into just one day of shooting, but we made it work and came out with some stellar footage. Keep an eye out for this edit which will be finished soon! In the meantime, check out a couple of behind the scenes clips from Wednesday:
