Crankworx - The Latter Half
On Saturday night the 'big event' of Crankworx took place - the slopestyle. It was an OK show, had a large turnout as always, but wasn't overly impressive to me this year.
THE event of Crankworx for me however, was hands down the Canadian Open race. I expected 'Hecklefest' to be big this year, but was definitely surprised by how many people turned out. From beer bongs to streakers, Hecklefest had it all. At points during the race, the crowd was more intent on giving the finger to people going up the lift, teasing foreign families with rentals, or trying to convince Brett Tippie to hit the beer bong, that they nearly missed the rider coming down at the time. I don't think I've ever seen a cooler, and more hilarious crowd at any event than what I saw at Hecklefest. Hands down, the best event of all, and I can't wait till 2011.
Unfortunately Cody broke a couple of fingers this week, so filming seems to be out of the question for a bit. However, Jack and I are working on two videos coming up, the first of which should be up next week at some point.

Crankworx First Days
Crankworx is back in town, and so are the boys from overseas. Cody and Jack, who I have filmed with before, are racing this week, and we'll also be going out to shoot once things settle down here. This year was the first year that I was able to watch the dual slalom, and it did not disappoint. One of the better events I've seen in some time.
The Garbanzo DH went down today and Jack had a wicked run, ending up in 7th. Curtis Keene was also flying today and came in 4th. Hopefully once I'm back in the city in September I'll be able to get some shooting done with Keene before he heads down south for the winter.

Pre-Crankworx
Ian Morrison went up the hill early this morning to help test out, and break in the new Dual Slalom track for Crankworx. We did a bit of shooting for the upcoming Crankworx video feature. The course is quite exciting to watch this year with an awesome 180 berm, large gap, grade 8/moguls/dirt boobs, and a wicked step down at the end.
